VO INTRO LETTER
Dear Friends,
I am Rev. Joseph Van Vo, my wife-Amy and our children-Joelynn and Josiah would like to send our best greetings to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are endorsed global servants with International Ministries and Transformation Ministries to Viet Nam. We hope this letter finds you well as we are inspired to share incredible opportunities and some exciting news about what the Lord is doing in Viet Nam.
Many Vietnamese people are influenced by the past cultural tradition and religion. The spiritual climate in Viet Nam are primarily ancestor worship and Buddhism. The estimated population is about 97 million and only less than 2% of the population is Christian. Drawing on the belief that destiny is pre-determined, so there is no point of trying to change the situation. The majority of the people are followers instead of leaders. The mentality of followers has been imbedded in Vietnamese people and Christians for a long time. The people are passive and lack of purpose. All of these contribute to how they present themselves in society.
But the exciting thing is that nowadays younger generation in Viet Nam are eager to seek meaning and purpose in life. They begin to question about some of the things that had been passed down to them culturally such as the traditional ideas, thoughts, faith and customs. They are seeking a transformed life that is found in Jesus Christ via the good news of the gospel.
IM mission is making disciples for Christ, we will coach and train them from a follower mentality to a leader mindset. We will partner with organizations and churches including Baptist churches of Vietnam as I will teach leadership and Amy will work with the women in counseling and leadership.
We are coming in as their partner and friends learning and building relationship with the leaders to find commonality and earn respect. For the younger generation, English will bridge the gap because education is highly valued and often the most respected in Vietnamese culture.
Our vision is to Empower-Equip-Serve Vietnamese Christians to live out God’s calling by serving as leaders and disciples of Christ in the local community. There are 3 projects that we would like to invite you to partner with us in Viet Nam:
1. Education 2. Health&Wellness Charity Work 3. Economic Development.
We would love hear your story and passion and invite you to partner with us in sharing the love of Christ to the people of Viet Nam.
Looking forward to meeting with you soon!
